Christening

Since May was already a busy month for our family, we decided to make it even more busy by getting Mackenzie christened! We had some family in town for Uncle Matt's graduation and it was very important for mommy to have Mackenzie christened before Uncle Matt left for boot camp, so on May 24, 2009 we made a promise to Jesus to raise you in a christian home and environment. It was such a special day. You see, mommy and dadddy got engaged on May 24, 2003 and we didn't even remember that until that morning when we were getting Mack ready. And Mackenzie wore the same exact gown, hat, and overlay that mommy wore when she was christened. The funny thing is, when mommy wore she was only 12 weeks old, and when Mackenzie wore it, she was almost 9 months old! Needless to say, mommy was a little chunk when she was a baby. Mommy's Aunt Deedee made the entire outfit and Gram held onto it for all these years. When gram got it out of the closet, she was horrified to see that it turned a little yellow and decided to bleach it. She said she literally prayed over the washing machine that it wouldn't destroy the gown-and it didn't! Mackenzie, you looked absolutely beautiful! And you had quite the following that morning. Mommy, daddy, Gram, Papaw, Uncle Matt, Nanny, Papa, Pops, Aunt Kari, Uncle Mike, cousins-Jamie, Drew, and Abby, Great Aunt Candy, Uncle Larry, Billy Graham (who is like a gramps to you), Carmen, Rick, Trish, Mr. Don, Ms. Meta, Kelly, Carl, Jackson, Walker, and AnnaBelle were all there to see you! Carmen took pictures while we all went up to altar and Mr. Jim Higgins and Ms. Donna Goff christened Mack. Mackenzie did great-smiling as always and not a care in the world. When Mr. Jim went to put the water on her head, Mackenzie batted him away with her hand! We all had a good laugh about that. And then Mr. Jim carried Mack up and down the center aisle to meet the church family. After church, Mr. Don and Ms. Meta graciously offered their house for everyone to enjoy a yummy lunch and family time.

Mackenzie can no longer be in "big church" with us because she yick yacks the whole time, but we wanted her there with us, so we prepped her with a bottle and she was out like a light! We are so proud!

Since it was Memorial Day weekend, the church honored all current and former military and we got a picture of Uncle Matt in front of the Marines display.

Sitting In An Old Red Chair

While we were celebrating Mackenzie's christening, mommy decided to take some pictures of Mack. Daddy's bosses wife, Meta, has an old red rocking chair that's considered an antique and we had some fun taking pictures in the chair. And it helps when you have a cooperative baby!

Braves Game

We were given great tickets for the Braves vs. Blue Jays game on May 22, 2009 and we took Uncle Matt, and his friend Trevor. Our seats were amazing (8 rows back on the 3rd base line)and although the night started with a rain delay, the Braves won and we saw some great fireworks.

We had fun watching the grounds crew run across the tarp getting all the air bubbles out. It looked like a lot of fun.

The world's cutest, kindest, funniest, most energetic usher I have ever met! I have no idea what his name or how old he is, but he was great! He wore a whistle around his neck and would blow it every once in awhile to get the crowd pumped.

Pulling Up

Mackenzie's been crawl...I mean skooching all over the house. She props herself up on her arms, but leaves her legs flat and drags herself all over the place. She can go from sitting to crawling to pulling herself up on everything and anything in seconds. One day while we were playing in her room, I thought it would be best to lower her crib to the next setting, I'm so glad I did! When I went to go get her from her afternoon nap, this is how I found her! For memories sake, this was May 22, 2009.

Mackenzie was so proud of herself for doing this! And when she wants to get back down, she just lets go and falls down.

Hanging Out With Hope

Mommy and Mack have play time in Mack's bedroom every morning. Well, Mack and the latest foster puppy that we had, Hope, loved each other. I don't know what it was that Hope did, but Mackenzie absolutely LOVED her. Mackenzie would dance, kick, clap, and laugh whenever she would see Hope. You see, we pulled Hope from our local animal shelter and she was in BAD condition. She was very underweight and had a horrible cough. Well, we nursed her back to health, put some meat on her bones and gave her a place to call home until the right family came along looking for a wonderful dog. Although Hope dug plenty o' holes in our backyard after Daddy laid rows and rows of brand new sod, ate the rug and tormented our two dogs, she was a fun girl that loved to snuggle up at night. She found her forever home with a retired couple and the man was a avid runner-perfect for her high energy! Here's to you Hope!

Mommy's First Mother's Day

Between birthdays, Mother's Day, graduations, and celebrations-we've had a very busy May! We spent Mother's Day afternoon at Nanny and Papa's and Daddy made his famous ribs. Aunt Missy, Uncle Joe and Jackson were in town, so we got to spend the day with the whole family. Earlier in the day, Mommy was surprised by Daddy and Mack with her favorite candy's, Sour Patch Kids, Swedish Fish, and new phone accessories to go with the new phone that Daddy got Mommy.
