Mackenzie turned 6 months old on March 4th and we celebrated going to the doctor for shots and a check up the next day. All we know, is that we're so happy that we don't get anymore shots until the 12 month visit! We learned while we were at the doctor's that Mack actually lost weight from her 4 month to her 6 month appointment and the docs don't take this lightly. Now I will say, up until this point we've had no problems with the office and we really love the doctors there. When Mackenzie was weighed, the scales read 11 lbs. 13 oz. and at her 4 month appointment, Mack was just over 12 lbs. After some discussion, we ruled that since she stopped breastfeeding several weeks earlier, that may have contributed to the weight loss. Mackenzie became VERY stubborn that week and wasn't eating properly. We were advised to basically force feed her for 24 hours and bring her back to the office for a weight check. Momma wasn't happy about this one bit. I understand the doctor's are watching out for the babies, but Mackenzie was so full of food, that she would literally take my hand and push it away from her when I tried to feed her. We spent the next several days visiting the doctor's having daily weight checks and we finally got Mack to where she needs to be. As of March 9th, she weighed 13 lbs. 1 oz. We did talk with a different doctor (same office) at the final visit, and he believes the scale was off at the initial weigh in and that Mackenzie is just one of those children that can take it or leave it when it comes to food. Here's her stats from the initial 6 month vist.
Height: 24 1/2 inches 10-25%
Weight: 11 lbs. 13 oz. 0-3%
Head Cirr.: 41 1/4 cm 10-25%
In more exciting news...Mackenzie finally has enough hair to wear hair bows! There's no need for tape, syrup, glue, or anything else one might use to make a bow stay, just pinch a little bit of her fuzzy hair up and in goes the bow!

Owen is also 0-3% for weight....hey, somebody has to be down there, it just happens to be our kiddos :) My dr. says that between 6 mos. and 18 mos. the charts are a bit errored b/c that's when babies that were born premature catch up. They grow quite fast and then it knocks the slower gaining weight children down a few notches. Our skinny minis will catch up eventually! I'm sure Mack wasn't losing weight either, I agree with the dr. who says that the scale was off...that happened to Owen once too. You don't sound too worried either, but I just wanted to give you that bit of encouragement :)
she looks so cute in that little bow! that last picture where she's looking up grinning at you is so adorable! and seeing her last week at church, she's even more cute in person- definitely looks like you i think. And I gotta echo what Hannah said- bailey's always in the 5-10% herself and she's as healthy as can be. and she eats all the time! sometimes i wonder how much value comes from those charts and comparing babies to each other on height and weight. this is random, but kind of funny i think- i've looked at one of those charts for myself and according to my height and weight i am considered a "large frame" person. Now i don't think i'm small or tiny or skinny by any means, but large?? i usually buy small shirts and my pants aren't in the double digit sizes (yet!- ha ha!)! so i kind of don't take too much stock in all that. plus the whole "muscle weighs more than fat" thing....i just think we're all built differently. anyways- that's my two cents!
