Mack's First Cookie

After eating supper on April 23rd, mommy and daddy decided to let Mackenzie try a cookie for the first time. She loved it!

Yummy cookie!
Maybe if I play it like a harmonica, it will taste better?!
Or maybe a saxaphone...
Look at my face!

Getting the hang of it and scaring mommy half to death that I was going to choke on it.

Look at that drool!
Cross eyed

Who wouldn't love this face?

Mackenzie's First Easter

We had a very busy Easter, and we loved spending time with family. We started the day off with church. We really like our new pastor and can't wait for him to baptize Mackenzie. Jim has a way of preaching that isn't too stuffy, over your head, or not understandable. After church, we visited Uncle Mike and Aunt Kari for an Easter lunch and another Easter egg hunt! And this time, we actually got to hunt for the eggs! After that, we drove to Gram and Pawpaw's house for a yummy Easter dinner.
He's a climber. He can't quiet reach the switches, so he improvised.
Jordan loved holding "the beebee".

He has the biggest smile!
Ha, ha!
Cousins taking a break from counting all their eggs.

She was determined to get that egg. Look at how she's sitting! She was grunting as she was trying to reach for it.

What...in...the...world...is...this?!
Working as a team. All Mack wanted to do was chew on the handle!
The cul-de-sac kids ready to hunt for all 600+ Easter eggs!

Mack and Jordan's first Easter Egg Hunt

The Saturday before Easter, our church hosted its annual Easter egg hunt. The only problem, was that it was so cold! Luckily, we went prepared for snow by the way we were dressed and we still had fun getting some eggs. Gram, PawPaw, and Jordan came along for the fun as well-Jordan is PawPaw's 2 1/2 year old grandson that was visiting from North Carolina. Mommy was a little confused though, because we came prepared to "hunt" for the eggs, but instead they were just thrown out on a blue tarp-what kind of egg hunt is that?! And it was kind of hectic-it seemed like the parents were more into it than the kids were. I think next year there needs to be a hunt for the parents.
Not sure what to do!
I'm gonna get that egg!
Hmmm, this looks yummy.
Watching all the kids and parents grab for the eggs.
Jordan getting into the hunt/grab.
I will take this one, and this one, and this one.
Stopping for a candy break-this kid could survive on just candy if he needed to!

Gram and Mack-it was so cold!

BBQ

Daddy's bosses daughter, Kelly is having a little girl on May 8th and her friends threw her and her family a BBQ baby shower. We ate yummy food, played corn hole, blongo ball, and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
Daddy's co-worker and friend, Jack and Mack! He LOVES Mackenzie, but isn't one for holding babies-he says they can break. Jack always sings a very silly song that goes something like this. I'm your Uncle Jack, Jack, Jack and you're my baby Mack, Mack, Mack. The words change all the time, but you get the jist of it.

So proud to be sitting all my herself. What you don't see is Daddy was right there ready to catch her if/when she leaned forward.

7 months Old

I have said from the beginning that I have loved every stage of Mackenzie's life, and every stage has been my favorite-that is until the next month comes, and then I love that month the best! Right now, Mackenzie is learning so much and becoming more and more aware of her surroundings. She's starting to "talk" a lot more now too. When she's awake, she's talking-just like her mommy! We're not too sure if it's a coinencidence or not, but when she starts to get hungry, she repeats, "ba-ba, ba-ba" over and over and over again. And she's said "da-da" a couple of times too! Her laugh is sooo contagious! When Mack gets a good belly laugh going, she has this deep "huh-huh" laugh that cracks us up everytime. I love spending the days with her telling her about what I'm doing and what's going on in the world. It really seems like she's beginning to understand the world.
How we weigh our butter ball! Yes, the scale says, 13 lbs. 3 oz. but that was over a month ago, she's up to a little over 15 lbs. now. I love this scale! The family I nannied for lent it to us and it's very accurate and easy to read. It's been a life saver!
Check out this face! We love her so much!
Teething are we? She's a drooler and has been gumming various things for awhile now, but still no teeth, and I LOVE her toothless smiles.
I'm 7 months old!!!

Mommy's Birthday

We celebrated Mommy's birthday on her actual birthday-March 21st. We had family and Carmen and Cooper over for a cook out. It was nice to be outside and enjoy sunshine!

Not sure what to think other than she knows she likes it!

Flowers for mommy from Aunt Candy and Uncle Larry

Look at me, look what I can do!

Mackenzie is now sitting all by herself! I truly believe the Bumbo has helped her so much in learning how to sit. The chair strengthened her neck and back muscles nicely. In early March, Daddy laid sod in our backyard and on March 20, 2009 we let Mackenzie test out the new grass. She was so proud of herself for sitting up without any help! It's so fun watching little ones learn new things. Now that Mack is sitting, it's one more position that helps to keep her occupied throughout the day. We still use the Bumbo frequently, but she's starting to outgrow it. She has bad habit of arching her back and placing her feet flat and then tries to roll over the sides of the seat.
