Teachable Moments and Nolan's Firsts

It's been hard trying to explain to you, Mackenzie where Uncle Matt has been.  We'll often find you talking to his picture on the fridge and when we see someone in camo clothing (which isn't hard in Paulding County!) you'll often tell us that you see Uncle Matt.  We can't really show you on a map, because your big, almost 3 year old brain can't fathom things like that just yet.  It's hard to say Uncle Matt's fighting because we don't promote fighting, so we've come up with the term that Uncle Matt is protecting our freedom and what freedom means.  Right now, you think freedom is the American Flag and that's fine with me, it's a start, right?  Well, our local park hosted a day called Touch a Truck where they bring in all types of trucks and equipment.  We knew it was going to be a packed house, so we did the next best thing.  Since it runs late into the day, many companies leave their trucks and equipment in the parking lot over night.  On a whim, Daddy pulled into the parking lot, and you got the chance to run, climb and play all over the very same equipment Uncle Matt was using while he was deployed!  This was a perfect "teachable moment" for us to explain to you what Uncle Matt is doing while he's in Afghanistan!  And to top it off, you had so much fun!

And you Mr. Nolan, had your first set of flapjacks the same morning for breakfast and your first sinful taste of ice cream that night from Coldstone!  Talk about a double whammy and a super sweet tooth!

 I could get used to this!  Forget the Froot Loops!

I don't know what that was, but it was cold, yummy and I need to have some more.  Now.
